When she graduated from Farrington High School, Rosemarie had no idea she would eventually earn a doctorate in educational psychology.

She started her career at UH Mānoa as the psychometrist at the Counseling and Testing Center in 1970 with a Bachelors degree in secondary education. After earning her Masters degree in Counseling, she held a faculty position in the placement office and became assistant coordinator of the Learning Assistance Center (LAC) where she assisted students in meeting academic goals, clarifying career goals, and developing personally and professionally.

She continues to serve students in her role as Director of the Academic Resource Center (ARC, formerly LAC), where she focuses on Academic Coaching and developing a Wellness program with a Love, Peace and Harmony meditation room.

Active in governance, she has held leadership positions in the Office of Student Affairs Faculty Senate, served on the UH Mānoa Faculty Senate and served as President of the Hawai‘i Counseling Association, Chair of the American Counseling Association, Western Region, and President and Treasurer for the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).

Currently, she is serving as co-chair of the CRLA Special Interest Group for 1st Generation and Non-Traditional Students and chair of the Scholarship and Awards Committee for the Associated Chinese University Women non-profit organization.

Serving others by helping them to become happier, healthier, empowered and enlightened plays a prominent role in her life/career.
